Dear Mother,
You are perhaps anxious to hear from me so I will tell you some thing about our trip. We arri[v]ed safe here last night. I was glad to make up with Pap before starting. I felt well all the way to think that he Shook hands and bid me good by but may be he got In a bad humor again after I left but I hope he will not take It hard for he can rest assured I will be all right here. We will maybe start for Washington b[e]fore long but you can write to me before we start and tell me all that is going on at home for I feel very anxious to [be] here. I will send this up with the doctor as he is going up tomorrow. Pap Said he would let the Doctor fetch your likeness and his down as George Henry did not get them for me before starting. Doctor will tell you all the news So it is not worth my whole writing any more. You will answer this Immediately. From your affectionate son.
