<p>This Memorial Souvenir is published by request, as a tribute to a friend of worth and great usefulness. Later, will appear his biography, containing a number of his sermons and addresses, and an accurate account of a most fruitful life, together with the sermon preached at his funeral, and other interesting documents, now in process of preparation by his esteemed co-worker, Rev. B. F. Witherspoon.</p>
<p>This book, which will appear in a few months should be in every home in South Carolina, and I bespeak for it a hearty welcome.

<head>POEM READ AT THE FUNERAL
<lb>OF
<lb>Reverend F. Wofford White.

<hi rend="blockindent">How beauteous, how grand, on the crest of the mountain,
<lb>Are the feet of the messenger, servant of God;
<lb>The King&apos;s representative, bringing good tidings,
<lb>Of peace and full pardon, to publish abroad.</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">How gentle his accents, how winsome and tender
<lb>He tells all that wonderful story of love;
<lb>Of love so amazing,&mdash;magnificent wonder&mdash;
<lb>Transcending our knowledge, and pointing above.</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">So he led forth the flock which to him God had given,
<lb>Forth into the nourishing pastures of green;
<lb>On the right of the beautiful mountain of Zion,
<lb>To the bright living waters, the life-giving stream.</hi></p>

<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">He led them with care in the path of the righteous,
<lb>In ways whither conflict and discord must cease;
<lb>Where, walking in love, in the footprints of Jesus,
<lb>They enter His kingdom through pathways of peace.</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">And ofttimes he entered the Valley of Shadows
<lb>With those whom he loved, to give counsel and cheer;&mdash;
<lb>To show that in darkness existeth no shadow,
<lb>That ev'n in the valley, King Jesus is near.</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">Yes, near, and His presence dispelleth the darkness,
<lb>His radiance in glory outrivals the sun;
<lb>When they who trust Him droop in physical weakness,
<lb>He gives strength to complete the full course well-begun.</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">These lessons which often he taught to another,
<lb>Were welcomed from others when the closing hours came;
<lb>With the courage of faith he greeted each brother,
<lb>And welcomed each message they brought </hi>
<hi rend="italics">in His Name</hi>.</p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent"> The messenger came at the dawn of the morning:
<lb>&ldquo;The Master hath need of thee, come, come away!&rdquo;
<lb>Like a tired little child, his eyes gently closing,
<lb>He slept, to awake in the bright realms of day.</hi></p>

<hi rend="blockindent">&apos;tis finished!  The battle of life now is ended;

<hi rend="blockindent">We greet thee, dear Brother! Watch, watch, we are coming!
<lb>Though here on the nether shore longer we wait!
<lb>But watch Brother White, we shall meet in the morning,
<lb>With triumph we&apos;ll enter the Beautiful Gate!</hi></p>

<lb>The brow of our Brother in the palace of God!</hi>

<lb>For the Saviour&apos;s honor given;
<lb>To the sick and poor and sin-defiled,
<lb>The Evangel of Hope and Heaven.</p>

<hi rend="blockindent">With power he had preached the Gospel,

<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">In works of love unwearied;

<hi rend="blockindent">Death saw the shining target,
<lb>And sealed him for the grave,
<lb>We saw him fade before our sight,&mdash;
<lb>No mortal power could save.</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">While on the verge of Jordan,
<lb>He said with glowing face:
<lb>&ldquo;The gift of God&mdash;Salvation&mdash;
<lb>Through faith are ye saved by grace.&rdquo;</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">He fell with faith undaunted
<lb>Beneath the mighty arm
<lb>Of Death, the King of Terrors,
<lb>His soul felt no alarm.</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">In state, before the altar,
<lb>Of Wesley, he was laid,
<lb>And loving people gathered round
<lb>To hear the last words said.</hi></p>
<p>
<hi rend="blockindent">And many a tender tribute,
<lb>Was laid upon his bier,
<lb>By brethren, in whose inmost heart
<lb>His memory is dear.</hi></p>

<hi rend="blockindent">We bore him from the Chapel,
<lb>Amidst the people&apos;s wail,

<hi rend="blockindent">But no; he faileth never!
<lb>&apos;tis true his sun is set;
<lb>But its blest, hallowed radiance,
<lb>Lingers to cheer us yet.
<lb>Then came the long procession,
<lb>
<hi rend="italics">Shekinah&apos;s</hi>funeral hymn,
<lb>&ldquo;So mote it be,&rdquo; they murmur,
<lb>&ldquo;God&apos;s will is done&rdquo; in him.
<lb>They scatter sprigs of cedar,
<lb>And speak of the grave so lone;
<lb>Then sing in tones exultant,
<lb>&ldquo;Our brother, safe at home.&rdquo;
<lb>So we laid him away at sunset,
