<head>INTRODUCTORY.</head>
<p>This Lecture, is the product of years of thought, study and travel, and is now presented as a modest contribution to the growth of science which seeks to shed new light upon the truths of Bible statements. It is an essentially new arrangement of facts and principles, meeting our every day observation, yet slightly reflected upon.</p>
<p>It may seem absurd to expect any new discoveries in a field whose earliest surveys are recorded in the Theogonies of India, Egypt and Greece, and some of whose grandest features were evidently seen by Miseraim, Memnon, Moses, Plato and Aristotle. But, though this field has repeatedly been under survey by eminent Philosophers, whose attention has been called to the study of cause for certain Scientific phenomena; the study is presenting ever fresh phenomena, with the progress of mankind and civilization, and demands therefore, ever fresh statement.</p>
<p>Even if the grander features of the great landscape do not change, one who surveys them from some new hilltop to which his business or taste has led him, may be able to present them in new relations and with a fresh perspective.</p>
<p>It is in these new relations and with this fresh perspective that I believe my subject will be found essentially new. The fresh views presented will be: 1st. To reverse the theory of the globe&apos;s orrigne. 2d. To bottom hell by the Bible and Science. 3d. To give a scientific location, description and measurement of Hell, harmonizing with the Bible.</p>
<p>Many Scientists claim that the earth was formerly a molten mass, thrown off frome the Sun by some violent convulsion in nature, and as a result of the cooling off process it is going through, it is gradually contracting. Now first to refute this. Estimates obtained by mathematical

<printpgno>4</printpgno></pageinfo>circumnavigation around the globe, across the compass with land and water measuring instruments informs us through publications in and previous to 1866, that the earth&apos;s circumference was 23,778 miles; we are informed by the same or similar authority in 1871-72, the distance to be 24000 miles. In 1880-86 and '87 as 25,000. This does not look as if the earth was contracting, unless for more room. Neither is it getting larger, for the distance from New York to Sanfrancisco, London or elsewhere is no more or less than formerly by the same routes traveled. The earth is not cooling off, but uniform in temperature as to locality, season and circumstantial local occurances waking up by frixion, the sleeping heart as it exists in every created thing: As the violent contact of flint and steel; rubbing of two blocks of wood together; shaking cold water in a bottle, all will become hot as a result of frixion, thus demonstrating the earth&apos;s suface as cold, becoming hot by frixion.</p>
<p>Col. Robert G. Ingersoll argues against the possibility of there being a Hell from two stand points, 1st. By way of appeal to our reasonable consideration upon the justice of an all powerful God, decreeing a place of eternal punishment for any part of his creatures. 2d. By way of appeal to certain past occurances&mdash;certain present existing circumstances and scientific phenomena, he argues there is no proof for the possible existence of a Hell.</p>
<p>As to the Colonel&apos;s first proposition, it has to do with intellectual and moral sciences, therefore, I would ask of what use would be our creation to us did we not have that sensitiveness which enables us to draw the contrast between experiences of pain and pleasure, thus learning to appreciate that which is good and value security from that which occasions us pain.</p>
<p>The far off star is a great light to those who have never seen the bright sun. &ldquo;Get knowledge, get wisdom, and in all thy getting get understanding.&rdquo; Wisdom crieth aloud in the streets; seek her in the school of adverse experience&mdash;and when you have learned how, do not impose upon yourself, neither position yourself as to allow others to impose upon you. You are a builder. God creates
<pageinfo>
<controlpgno>0005</controlpgno>
<printpgno>5</printpgno></pageinfo>the parts, we only put them together or construct.&mdash;Be a wise master-builder&mdash;labor with and for God, insures transient happiness here; eternal joy hereafter. Labor with Satan or evil here is deceptive pleasure, hollow and unlusting joy&mdash;succeeded by bitter remorse, calumnious confusion, tangled troubled, and eternal anguish. &ldquo;Choose ye today whom ye will serve.&rdquo;</p>
<p>2nd. It would have been in direct opposition to all natural and moral law for God to have harnessed the mind of man with the tiresomeness of monotony. No! No!! No!!! An ever changing scene before our proportioned sight, and God&apos;s all-seeing eye,&mdash;thus He glories in His handiwork. Without mind we had as well be out of existance. What is mind? It is the power of understanding. From what source is it enabled to receive distinguishing impressions? By its co-operation with the soul. What is the soul? Read Genesis 2nd chapter, 7th verse. Even as sulphurate of mercury inculcated into a wet glass bottle generates heat and is mercury no longer&mdash;but something else. So is air inculcated into the mechanical frame of man, it becomes a living soul, immortally-but without sense and reason we cannot feel. Sense and reason are the component parts of mind; and mind is the power of understanding.</p>
<p>Let us all understand aright. God instructs; will we wait on him? Behold him incarnated in human flesh in the person of Jesus as an instructor by precept and example&mdash;the shameful cross failed to prove him other.</p>
<p>We exist under a three-fold signification:</p>
<p>1st. Created for God&apos;s glory.</p>
<p>2nd. Condemned to subjugate aspiring ambition opposing deity, and to learn to enjoy with God.</p>
<p>3rd. We make probation successful, or disastrous unto restoration; or unto damnation. Circumstantial law demonstrates that no single restraining influence is capable of ultimately applying to all humanity by way of sublime refinement, except it be the desire of heaven and fear of hell; suplemented by the moral suasion of the law enforced by the strong arm of Kingdoms, Republics and Empires, etc., etc.</p>

<printpgno>6</printpgno></pageinfo>
<p>Behold! What wisdom between God and Man! Such must be, for with evil unexhibited and probationery, toils unfelt, men had not appreciated good; nor angels valued their security in the world of harmony where no discordant soul can enter.</p>

<p>Now as the world is proven to be round and admitted by the clergy Hell must be in the bowels of the earth. According to the Bible reverse this we would first have to convert the Chinaman or ourselves, by way of turning the feet of one of these people where the head now is, if that could be done where would heaven be?</p></div>

<head>SCIENCE AND THE BIBLE LINKED.</head>
<p>Explanitory of the cut above (which represents the earth&apos;s interior,) through the scientific and antiquarian research, submarine excavation, &amp;c. it has been found that the earth&apos;s surface is between 50 and 75 miles to a thickness over molten heat inside that would melt iron. By close figuring I estimate it to be near 52 miles to a molten lake agreeing with the Bible as to location and description.</p>
<p>Volcanic eruption along the equator demonstrates this internal heat. Twice 52 or 104 off the main diameter of the earth gives us the diameter of the inside sphere, the surface of which multiplied by one third the radious of the diameter gives the result as laid down in solid miles of firery matter&mdash;a MOLTEN LAKE. Is it Hell? Drop in and see.</p></div></body></text>
