P&P ONLINE CATALOG - HABS/HAER COLLECTION
How to Order Reproductions
Note: Users may download or print images viewed online. The HABS/HAER materials were generally scanned at a high resolution; see Digitizing the Collection for further details.
Alternatively, users can order copies of various types through the Library of Congress Photoduplication Service (202-707-5640). The Photoduplication Service's HABS/HAER Collection Reproduction Services price list outlines the reproduction options for different types of documentation. The Photoduplication Service estimates that it takes three to six weeks to complete an order. Orders must include appropriate reproduction numbers or call numbers, as indicated below.
To Order Items For Which Individual Digital Images Are Displaying
- Photographs--Please note that photographic copies of images taken in the 1930s will probably be made from copy negatives rather than from the original negatives. Some of these copy negatives were cropped and may not reflect the high quality shown in the online images, which were scanned from the original negatives.
- Specify whether you desire a print from the available film negative or from the scan of the original negative.
- Make note of the Call Number and Item Number that appear under the photograph in the multiple-image display (e.g., HAER, NY,52-BRIG,4-2).
- If possible, include a printout of the photograph.
- Drawings
- Make note of the Survey Number (e.g., HAER NY - 143) and Sheet Number (e.g., "Sheet 1 of 4"), which appear on the edge of the drawing. (NOTE: These numbers are visible in the Tiff "Reference Image" display.)
- If possible, include a printout of the drawing.
- Data Pages
- Make note of the Call Number in the catalog record.
To Order Items For Which Individual Digital Images Are NOT Displaying
- Processed Materials--Processed materials have a number in the CALL NUMBER field that begins with either HABS or HAER and a state abbreviation (e.g., HABS,ILL,16-CHIG,33-).
- Make note of the Call Number listed at the top of this screen.
- Look at the MEDIUM field listed at the top of this screen. If it lists more than one item:
- The entire group can be ordered as photocopies or high-quality copies.
- All the items in a particular medium (e.g., all drawings, all photographs) can be ordered as photocopies or high-quality copies.
- Unprocessed Materials -- If the CALL NUMBER field includes the phrase "Unprocessed items," or includes an accession number (e.g., DLC/PP-95:AK-5 or [1991(HABS):10]), the materials, with few exceptions, are unavailable.
