ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL TO MABEL (Hubbard) BELL
<lb>
Colonial Beach.
<lb>
July 13th, 1896.
<lb>
My darling:
</p>
<p>
I love you very much &mdash; but I cannot write. Philadelphia was hot but here &ldquo;hot&rdquo; is no word for it. Both Elsie and I are suffering from it. We will leave here Wednesday for New York.
</p>
<p>
Can&apos;t write &mdash; a mere mass of deliquescent jelly.
</p>
<p>
Your loving,
<lb>
Alec.
