My dear Alec:

Your telegram dated Philadelphia tells me where you are tonight, and that you are alive, but I am getting anxious for more information. How are you? Please always try and tell me some thing of yourself if you haven't written, even if you do go over the ten words. Where is Elsie? I feel it in my bones that she is on her way here, and if she comes willingly how glad I shall be to see her.

Daisy had a field day with her picture play to-day. She went in town this morning, photographed there, and then brought her hero and heroine home to lunch and did some more photographing. I believe so far she has two good pictures out of a hundred and sixty! — she wants to take.

I went over to Grescent Grove this morning about Charlie's house. There is a good deal that requires to be done, and we shall have to work hard. There are leaks and the paint is pealing off and must be renewed. The lodge is in better condition.

I spend most of my time out-of-doors among my flowers and vegetable garden. There is so much to be done I don't know how to begin. The rhododendrons are perfectly beautiful now. I will send some in to the people in town, it is really ashame they do not see them.

I cannot think of anything more to say beyond telling you once more how I miss you and long for you every time the beauty and delicious coolness come home to me. I wish I could express you some of the breezes that have been blowing across our piazza, we could well spare some.

Take care of yourself.

As ever yours,
<lb>
MABEL
