Requirements
Important - Each project must adhere to these requirements, as well as to the requirements for the Mode of Expression chosen by the group.
General Project Requirements
Group Responsibility
- Develop a work plan using Group Process Timeline for equitable sharing of group
responsibilities and tasks.
- Create a block period-length presentation
to share results of your research with the entire class.
- Identify essential findings about your research, and present them in a format of your choice during the block period-length presentation.
- Complete a final work product that represents the findings of your research.
This is separate from the presentation, but can be used in the presentation.
This work product must demonstrate that the group has used the sources in its
annotated bibliography, with the proper citation format. (See Citing
Electronic Sources for suggestions.) The segments of the work product completed
by individuals within the group should be identified by the author’s name in the
table of contents.
Individual Responsibility
- Complete an annotated bibliography with a minimum
of 25 sources: 10 secondary sources; 15 primary sources (10 from American Memory).
- Complete your section of the final work product. Include documention for your sources in the final product.
- Complete Peer Review Forms for a minimum of 2 other
work products in first draft form.
- Do a peer critique of each presentation as it occurs.
- Complete Making Sense of What We've Studied to develop
understanding of change over time for each theme, based upon group presentations.

Schedule
On Presentation Day
Each group will have the entire block to do their presentation. One day before the group's presentation, give copies of the final product to the teacher so sections can be photocopied for the class to review during the presentation.
For mural and multimedia groups, submit the text segments only.
On the day of the presentation,
- each presenter submits:
- completed, revised Historical Biography/Resume; and an
- individual annotated bibliography (final revised copy).
- each group submits the group work product (mural/exhibit
catalogue, scrapbook, multimedia presentation, magazine/video).
During the presentations, the class will gather information using Making Sense of What We've Studied to collect essential ideas from each presentation along thematic lines.

Evaluation
The project grade will consist of both group and individual components. One group grade will be assigned to each person in the group based upon the common work product. This will count for 50% of the project grade. The other 50% will consist of your individual grade in the block-length group presentation. Presentations and final products will be evaluated with Assessment Rubric. Everyone will receive a copy before presentations begin.
Ongoing collaboration and cooperation in the group will be assessed as part of each student's course participation grade.
