The Pioneer Museum invites you to contribute to an exhibition on the expansion of our nation. To chronicle your journey west, your exhibition must include a journal, map, timeline, broadside and one additional artifact. Visitors to this museum will be interested in varied viewpoints, particularly the motivations to travel, the struggles along the trail and encounters with Native Americans. In order to represent multiple perspectives within the exhibition please check with the museum curator before you assume the role of a Gold Miner, Pioneer Family, Native American, Explorer or Fur Trader.

Step 1: Begin chronicling your Journey West

Examine each of the following five photographs.
Use the Analysis of Images form as a guide.
