Both these pamphlets were issued by the Better Homes in America organization in 1928 and begin with a preface by Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover. The Guidebook for Better Homes Campaigns in Rural Communities and Small Towns contains a list of thirteen titles published by the organization during the three preceding years. It defines the importance of the Better Homes Movement and specifies the steps necessary to conduct local Better Homes campaigns. The Guidebook for Better Homes Campaigns in Cities and Towns sets forth the collaborative relationships between Better Homes campaign subcomittees and businesses and other local organizations. It also briefly reviews the 1924 and 1925 Better Homes drives (p. 39) and gives specific information on the campaign of 1926 (pp. 38-47). The pamphlets provide illustrations of demonstration homes in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and California.
