Dear Mom and Dad,
Today is Sunday. We're not working today. We had a wild time New Year's Eve even though I was on guard duty. I always seem to get it on holidays.
I received your letter of Christmas Day and two Sporting News.
Did I tell you to stop mailing the Sports paper? Well, you better, because my time is getting short.
The Chicago Tribune sent me a 6 months free subscription to the paper paid for by I.B. OF E.W. Local 134, 47 N. Ogden Ave., Chicago. Who are they? They haven't started coming yet but I'll be glad when they start. Better late than never.
I've spent the last few days working on an OP bunker. Damn! It's way up on a high hill. On some days the clouds are below us. What a climb! Takes about 2 hours to get to the top. Plenty of snow up there.
I say again, tell Ron and Don to wait. By the time they get called we may have a permanent peace here or even a shorter tour of duty. It pays to wait when the army is concerned.
I've got a few pictures to send. Devorak (Harry) took them.
Love
Eddie
