Dear Mom and Dad,

Well I did it! I volunteered to get out of this outfit. Instead of the infantry though I'm going on Liaison.

We lay wire to the O.P.(Observation Posts). We're attached to the infantry . It's a little more dangerous than what I have now, but it is a 4 point area. I do get $45 extra combat pay. At that rate I could be home in seven and a half months. I could be home for Christmas and that looks mighty good to me. So I'm leaving in an hour or two. I'm writing now before the truck comes down to pick me up. Our bunker is at the base of Old Baldy. They haven't had any casualties in liaison so I'm not worried.

I haven't received any mail from you for two days. Yesterday and today I got letter from Ray Heintz. I'll expect some from you today. I'll be in this area usually every day. We don't spend much time on line. I'll write again later to let you know how it is up there. I've got all my gear packed. So expect me home about 5 months sooner.

P.S. My address is the same.

Love

Eddie
