Dear Mom and Dad,

I'm sitting in what we call the "CW truck" just outside our bunker. All I have to do is receive "Metros" (weather reports) from the MLR. (Main Line of Resistance), and I relay them to the firing battery. My buddy Al Neve from Hammond is in the 49 th FA. BN. I called him this morning. We have telephones in our bunkers. I usually have a few hours between Metros so I have plenty of time to write. The only drawback is the fact that there isn't a lot to write about.

I could use my camera here. If you can manage it, send it.

I went to the PX yesterday to buy something only it was empty—nothing.

How is Illinois doing in basketball in the "Big Ten"? What about the Illinois high school state tournament?

I've got one point for January 18 to February 18 so I have 39 more points to go. In this area I'm going to receive three points a month.

We have a Korean houseboy here. He cleans the place up and does our laundry for two dollars a month. We have Korean K.P.'s too. The only extra detail that amounts to anything is guard duty. We have to do that.

Well, I'll sign off for now. I may write a few more other letters.

Love

Eddie
