Ceckowski served with the 3rd Mobile Communications Group while at Tinker AFB. He was at Monte Calvarina, Italy, while serving with the 2187th Communications Group, and at Elmadag, Turkey, while he was assigned to Detachment 16-2. He also served with Precision Measuring Equipment Laboratory, Strategic Air Command (SAC), at Loring AFB; and with 380th Avionics Maintenance Squadron, SAC, at Plattsburgh AFB. Special duties/highlights/achievements include: "Provided important communications support from Elmadag, Turkey, for the attempted rescue of American hostages during the Iranian Hostage Crisis."
