Dear Mom and Dad,

Excuse the paper. I'm on guard and it's the only thing I have out here to write on. I got your letter of October 16. I just came back from the movie "Monkey Business". It's a picture I saw before when I was in Ft. Riley but I still liked it.

When we pick up women, we turn them over to the civil authorities. If they're not infected with any disease, they release them. It's not against the law in Korea. For a G.I. to fraternize with the civilians is a Courts Martial offense though.

Is Ron still working in Burnham? I suppose it won't be too long he'll be wanting do drive around in his own car. Don and Ron ought to be hearing from the Draft Board soon, shouldn't they?

I came on guard at 9 p.m. I've been on about 40 minutes. I have to stay on till midnight.

Al Witkowski ought to be rotating in about ten days. There aren't many men left in the Battery who were here when I came.

The hand on my watch came off so I gave it to a buddy going on R & R to get fixed. He got the hand put on all right but on the way back, he lost the stem, so I'll have to send it with the next quota to get a stem for it. I need a watch while on guard otherwise it seems like I'm out here forever.

It's a beautiful but slightly foggy night. The moon is bright enough to read by. Last night it rained for about thirty minutes.

It's cold here at night and though we have our winter clothes, we still don't have a stove in our tent.

The Corporals have a hell of a time trying to get me out of my fart sack. Our tent is the only one in the Battery without a stove.

I'll sign off now. The candle is about burned out. They had mail call but no one went so I'll have to wait until morning to see if I have any.

Love

Eddie
