Dear Mom and Dad,
We're not going to get that infantry training. We went out and checked our lines to O.P. 14, 15, 16, on hill 200, hill 347 and Pork Chop Hill. How long we'll be here on Pork Chop, I don't know.
I'm getting more sleep. In radio I never had more that 4 hours at one time. The last two days I've slept at least 8 hours. The food is the same. The men are easier to work with. We're not always in a combat zone. We don't always get 4 points per month. In order to get 4 points for any certain month a man has to spend 15 days on line. Although we were on line yesterday, it doesn't count because that was the last day in March. I want those "4 point months".
I haven't gotten any mail for 4 or 5 days now. Yesterday I got one from Aunt Elizabeth and one from Ted. Ted is stationed in San Diego now.
Even the weather has changed since I'm in liaison. It's just perfect spring weather. A little cool but quite a contrast from that of the past. I feel wonderful now. I smoke too much though. It's all we have to do during our idle hours.
Well this is all I have to say for now. It's chow time.
