catch up on my sleep. It's still hot out here - & still not a drop of rain. I'd like to get a photo taken of my standing beside one of those palm trees - perhaps I can manage it next time on liberty.

No news as yet on my orders. This yeoman, Schreiber, from Sampson, was given 21 days temporary duty aboard an LCI in San Francisco Harbor. One of the boys who worked with me in San Jose {was to} came back this morning to find out he was on a draft leaving tomorrow. The men I've become acquainted with are gradually vanishing, even one of my constant tennis partners is nowhere about. I suppose I should be approaching the time for my departure from this place any day now.
