Tecumseh! - Outdoor Historical Drama

In May 1970, The Scioto Society was incorporated as a tax exempt, nonprofit organization dedicated to the cultural, historical, educational, and economic development of the tri-county area encompassed by Pickaway, Ross and PIke Counties and the state of Ohio in general. The Society's goal was to help restore regional and national awareness to the area surrounding Chillicothe so that the area could assume its rightful place in the early history of the United States -- particularly the Northwest Territory. The first stage of that goal was realized when the premiere performance of the outdoor historical drama Tecumseh! was held in the summer of 1973 in the newly constructed Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre, located on a 206-acre site which was purchased by the Society.

Witnessed since 1973 by nearly two million people, representing all 50 states and over 100 countries, Tecumseh! recounts the life of the legendary Shawnee leader, Tecumseh. The drama is considered to have one of the finest production scripts of all outdoor dramas in the United States. The drama boasts a musical score by The London Symphony Orchestra and is narrated by Graham Greene, a Native American television and film actor. Located in Chillicothe, Ohio , Tecumseh! experienced its 28th season in the year 2000.
