The Centennial Trail

The Friends of the Centennial Trail support and maintain this paved walking and riding trail that runs for 37 miles along the historical Spokane River from Nine Mile Falls, at the northwestern end of the county, to the Idaho state line. The trail has Native American connections through proximity to the river, which historically was used for transportation and as a source of food.

The trail offers many activities for area residents: Walking, running, biking, rollerblading, horseback riding, picnicking or simply enjoying the natural beauty. Spokane is one of the few communities in the entire world that possesses a professionally designed and constructed multi-use corridor bordering a scenic river that winds its way from the wilderness through the very heart of a bustling city. Today the trail is much used and enjoyed by Washington residents and visitors. Project includes a videotape and accompanying typescript.
