Slater Mill Memorial Park and Historical Site

The first water-powered cotton mill, this Pawtucket site is acknowledged by many historians as the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution. Founded by Samuel Slater in 1793, the factory replicated operations he had seen in England. The mill's success ushered in a new era for both labor and economics in the U.S., forever changing methods of production.
