Germans from Russia Cooking
This project focuses primarily on the cooking
traditions brought with settlers from Russia in the late 1800s
and early 1900s which are still very much a part of the
cultural landscape of one of North Dakota's largest ethnic
groups -- Germans from Russia who live in the central and
south-central region of the state. Among the documentation are
a news clip on a successful bakery specializing in German from
Russia food, photographs, a menu from a restaurant well-known
for its German from Russia dishes, and a video of several
dishes being prepared by Germans from Russia whose recipes
have been handed down to them by their parents and
grandparents.
