Shanty Boats: A Collection of Oral Histories and Photographs
The project documents boats that were widely
used on Maryland's Eastern Shore and throughout the
Mid-Atlantic region for over 100 years. Of these, the
Chesapeake Bay shanty and the Seaside shanty were most
commonly used from the 1890's to the 1930's. Funding for the
project is from the Maryland Historical Trust.
