Jefferson Davis Days
This celebration of the birthday of Jefferson
Davis, the President of the Confederate States during the
Civil War, is held the first weekend in June at his
birthplace, Fairview, Kentucky, on the grounds of the
Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site. The event is
centered around two elaborate Civil War battle reenactments
complete with authentic cannons, troop camps, and sutlers'
tents. Other events include a picnic basket auction, the Miss
Confederacy pageant, and a grand ball. The 90-year-old
celebration is documented in text and photographs.
