Hazel Day Celebration

Held the first Saturday in October, this is a celebration of the past and present of Hazel, known today as the antique capital of western Kentucky. An exhibit of old photographs and memorabilia in the town's only bank documents the town's history of more than 100 years as an incorporated city. There are free horse and buggy rides, an open car show, an old-fashioned cake walk, a washer pitching tournament, a checkers tournament, and an auction of donated items including a quilt made for the occasion. Bluegrass and gospel music, arts and crafts, plenty of food, and the Little Miss and Mr. Hazel Pageant add to the festivities. Held since 1990, the celebration is documented in text, photographs, and promotional materials.
