Tad Hershron has written about and photographed jazz since the late 1960s in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. His work has appeared in JazzTimes and Swing Journal, as well as on covers of recordings by Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and Dizzy Gillespie. He received a Master's degree in history from George Mason University, followed by an M.L.S. from the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in archives and manuscripts. In 1999, he began working as an archivist at the Institute for Jazz Studies at Rutgers University. This collection represents his research on a projected biography of jazz impresario Norman Granz. - Contents Note
