<mods:abstract>The Maurice Baron Collection supplements the Music Division's rich resources for the study of music of the American theater. The collection contains manuscript and printed scores for orchestral and instrument works, operatic and other vocal compositions, ballets, film scores, and songs. Of particular interest is the connection between these scores and Baron's work as music director at the Roxy Theatre in New York City during the 1930s, as well as his tenure as staff composer and conductor at Radio City Music Hall from 1932 to 1939. Baron composed music for silent films during the late 1920s, and five of these scores are present in the collection.</mods:abstract>
