<mods:abstract>American composer Robert Hall Lewis (1926-1996) wrote chamber and orchestral works performed throughout the U.S. and Europe. Lewis taught at the Peabody Institute and served as artistic director of the Chamber Music Society of Baltimore. The collection contains Lewis' holograph music manuscripts, correspondence and other papers; teaching materials; writings; concert programs; photographs; and sound and video recordings. Of particular interest is Lewis' fine library of scores by twentieth-century composers, including works of Bainbridge, Bortolotti, Boulez, Carter, Dutilleux, Fontyn, and Henze.</mods:abstract>
