                    <mods:abstract>The Miller Collection contains nearly 1,700 flutes and other wind instruments, statuary, iconography, books, music, trade catalogs, tutors, patents, and other materials mostly related to the flute. It includes both Western and nonwestern examples from around the world, with at least 460 European and American instrument makers represented. The collection is especially strong in 19th century keywork, acoustical innovations, and experimental designs.</mods:abstract>
                    <mods:note type="contents">Materials in the Flute Vault include 1756 flutes and other wind instruments;  in addition there are roughly 1,000 pieces of iconography and 66 statues, 1,000 empty flute cases, 19 boxes of correspondence, 210 boxes containing nearly 3,000 unsorted photographs, 1,000 sorted photographs, and 3 archive boxes of patent trademarks for wind instruments. Scores, books, works of art on paper, correspondence, personal effects and 3x5 cards with notes.</mods:note>
