- Abstract
- The finding aid provides a description of the the Richard Rodgers Collection which consists predominantly of Rodgers's music holographs--sketches, vocal scores (many with lyric sheets included) and short scores. In addition, the collection includes full scores for 8 of the Rodgers and Hammerstein shows. Also included is a small number of programs, photographs, miscellaneous papers, and a few miscellaneous items. The collection contains 2,700 items (20 linear ft., 45 boxes).

- Finding aid to The Richard Rodgers collection (1917-1980, bulk 1925-1979), in the Music Division, Library of Congress.
- Composer Richard Rodgers, born on June 28, 1902, in New York City, is best known for the musicals he wrote with Lorenz Hart (e.g. A Connecticut Yankee, On your toes, The boys from Syracuse, and Pal Joey) and Oscar Hammerstein II (Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The king and I, The sound of music, etc.). Rodgers also composed film and television music (notably Victory at sea). Rodgers died on Dec. 30, 1979, in New York.
