Significance: The Lions Bridges formed the major vehicular entrance to Milwaukee's Lake Park. Four pairs of sandstone lions rest at the ends of the stone approach railings, giving the bridges their historic name. Oscar Sanne, a prominent local engineer, designed the bridge and the notable Boston landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead supplied the design for the park. The bridges' development of the Milwaukee park system give them significance.
