Significance: The site at 1025 St. Louis Street, near North Rampart Street and the Faubourg Treme, was owned during the early years of New Orleans history by free people of color. Its history and lineage relates to numerous free people of color, a part of New Orleans' early society which is often overlooked. ... The residence of 1025 St. Louis Street stands alone as one of the Vieux Carre's finest examples of the Greek Revival style. 1025 St. Louis Street is a part of the View Carre National Landmark Historic District. The house itself, due to its architectural quality, integrity and important African American heritage, merits its own listing as a National Historic Landmark.
