SUMMARY:  Italy, Venice. As Wuerth described, "View of the vast Lagoon, outside Venice, under heavily clouded sky. Colors, gray, brown, black, violet, blue, rose, orange, lavender, and white on bluish gray paper." [Large black gondola in center foreground, other vessels behind.]

MEDIUM:  1 drawing on blue-gray paper : pastel ; sheet 25.4 x 35.5 cm.

CREATED/PUBLISHED:  [between ca. 1901 and 1908]

Although 847 is inscribed on verso, drawing more closely matches description for Wuerth no. 852, Boats on the Lagoon. (As Wuerth described, "View of the lagoon, with various types of boats moored in middle distance, under a partly clouded sky. colors, gray, white, rose, black, red, blue, brown, violet, turquoise, on bluish gray paper.") Conservation completed 8.98.810.41. Good condition.
