Section 2: Directions for ResearchSelect a problem faced by African Americans in the post-Reconstruction South. Search African American Perspectives, 1818-1907 to learn more about your problem. Examine at least three primary sources from the collection before preparing your presentation. Search Tips will help you choose search words. Use the skills you have learned to analyze the sources. When you have completed your research, prepare a five-minute presentation to the class about the problem and a proposed solution. The class will conduct a model African American Congress as it might have taken place after Reconstruction. See Brief History of African American Congresses to learn more about congresses. The Congress will choose solutions to be included in its report.
