Presidents in American Memory

1789-1901 | 1901-present

Presidents have had a special relationship with the Library of Congress since President John Adams, in 1800, approved legislation that appropriated funds to purchase books for the use of Congress. All forty-one presidents are represented in American Memory, as well as in other areas of the Library's website. This pathfinder will take you, by president, to related American Memory collections, Exhibitions, or THOMAS.
