In 1879, 16-year-old Henry Ford worked as an apprentice machinist
in Detroit. In 1901, while working as an engineer with the
Edison Illuminating Co., he developed a self-propelled vehicle
- the Quadricycle. He incorporated the Ford Motor Co. in 1903
and sold his first Model T in 1908 for $850. His adoption
of the assembly line techique allowed him to produce cars
at a lower cost, and in 1915 the Model T price was lowered
to $290.
