6. Collection Framework

Within the NDLP, the term "collection framework" refers to the documents and supporting materials prepared by project teams, Division staff, and outside experts to introduce users to the online collections. The framework documents provide a means for users to find, understand, and use online collections.

Project leaders coordinate the selection, creation, and editing of framing materials with subject specialists and the NDLP editorial team. They also coordinate the design and production of the framework Web pages with the Web design team.

All collection framework components should:

  • Include the collection title in the heading;
  • Use NDLP standard technical terms and acronyms;
  • Use hyperlinked subheadings if warranted by the length of the document.
