Theodor Horydczak's Washington

Machines and Industrial Subjects

Horydczak seems to have been fascinated with machinery and with the objects people made with machines. Many of his photographs emphasize the beauty of engine parts and machines, and the connection or extension of the worker as part and parcel of the machine. Witness his photograph of gasoline-engine blocks for the Maytag Washing Machine Company, and his view of a worker pouring ingots in a steel mill at Massillon, Ohio, both about 1930.
